Plot [edit | Edit source]

As a child, the young Bruce Wayne had to watch his parents being shot after going to the cinema. Bruce runs away at their funeral, falls into a well and is carried out by field mice. Years later, when Bruce Wayne was already operating as a masked vigilante Batman, a fight between Superman and General Zod broke out in Metropolis. While the city is in ruins, Bruce Wayne watches the spectacle from the ground and tries to save as many lives as possible. Bruce Wayne blames Superman for the destruction of the city and vows to destroy it.

In Africa, the reporter Lois Lane is captured by a warlord. The US military begins a drone attack and Lois Lane gets caught between the fronts. The warlord's mercenaries begin killing civilians and burning their bodies. Superman comes to the rescue, he saves Lois Lane and is able to repel the drone attack while the mercenaries flee.

The media reported that Superman was responsible for the deaths of civilians. A Senate Committee of Inquiry comes to be led by Senator June Finch. Lois has taken one of the mercenaries' projectiles and is starting her own research.

Young entrepreneur Lex Luthor tries to convince Senator Finch to recover green kryptonite, a holdover from the recovered Kryptonian spaceship. He wants to take action against Superman and other potential threats from meta-beings. The senator refuses, but Luthor has the kryptonite secretly imported.

As a reporter, Superman, using the pseudonym Clark Kent, tries to convince his boss, Perry White, to publish a story about Batman, since he regards his methods as morally reprehensible. As Superman, he confronts Batman and tries to force him to hang up his mask. Then there will be a hearing of Superman by the Senate. There it should be determined whether Superman should continue to act as freely. Without a final verdict, there is a bomb attack in which Senator Finch, Luther's associate Mercy Graves, and many others present are murdered. In public, Superman is now considered to be the culprit. Meanwhile, Luthor investigates the Kryptonian spaceship and receives the body from General Zod.

Bruce Wayne learns of the attack and blames Superman for it. Eventually he steals the kryptonite from Luther's LexCorp company, builds a spear with his butler Alfred, and improves his armor in order to destroy Superman for good. During the night, Batman once again raises his bat signal into the sky and waits for Superman. Superman confronts Lex Luthor and wants to destroy him, but this forces Superman to kill within an hour, otherwise he will kill his mother Martha Kent.

It comes to a fight between Superman and Batman, which the latter can win with his weapons. Just before Batman can take his final thrust, Superman calls out the names of both of their mothers: Martha. Completely confused and angry, he wants to know why Superman says this name. Superman explains to him that his earthly mother bears the name Martha and that Luthor has her under his control. With the promise that Superman's mother won't die today, Batman sets out to save Martha Kent. After his fight with Batman, Superman visits Luthor and finds out that he created the creature Doomsday from Zod's corpse.

Together with the Amazon Wonder Woman and Batman, who has now freed Martha Kent, Superman begins the fight against Doomsday. In the course of the fight, the three can kill Doomsday with the kryptonite spear. Nevertheless, through Doomsday's action, Superman is also pierced by the spear and dies.

Lex Luthor is imprisoned and Superman is honored with a state ceremony and buried. Bruce Wayne, Martha Kent, Lois Lane and Diana Prince mourn Clark and bury him. Bruce wants to put together a team with Diana to keep future threats out. To do this, he would like to search for the creatures that he found on the computer in Luther's company. Lois spreads earth on the coffin, which rises slightly.
