Comments on the examples

All databases created by me have been designed in close cooperation with the clients and are precisely adapted to their operational processes. In other words: the operating processes do not have to adapt to the software used, but rather the software adapts to the familiar and proven processes.

On this page you will find a short description of some databases and a few of the advantages for the user are mentioned. Many of these examples have an additional page that provides more descriptions and screens. Below the brief description you will find the link to these pages.

With this database, tasks can be planned, assigned to employees and the processing can be tracked.

For the tasks, categories (task types) are defined, which can be changed and supplemented. These categories can be, for example, "hardware development", "software development" and "documentation".

The tasks that arise are assigned to an agent with a target date.

Each processor has an overview of the tasks assigned to him at his workplace and indicates statuses ("started", "interrupted", ..., "finished") during processing.

Lists of (over) due tasks can be printed out.
This database brought an unfamiliar clarity to the assignment of tasks and the status of processing. As a result, it is now possible to distribute the tasks more evenly, i.e. more fairly.

It can be seen at any time how the processing statuses are and when they were changed.

Time-critical tasks are marked in color. Bottlenecks can be identified in good time and countermeasures can be initiated.

Better capacity planning of the office as well as of the individual employees.

A group of dispatchers from a Daimler AG supplier works with this work support software.

Deliveries are planned for the next 10 days, with up to four deliveries per day.

A minimum range can be specified for each part. Taking into account the inflow and consumption, the parts are marked which are "threatened by a shortage".

The necessary orders are created automatically.

Warning list of the inventory-critical parts.
Individual configurability at every workstation.
This database has replaced a large number of inconsistent Excel files with almost inevitably inconsistent data.

If an employee is sick or on vacation, a colleague can now easily take over the work. Notes for the substitute can be entered and appear automatically in the appropriate places when processing the data.

The "North Sea Coast Clinic" in Cuxhaven Duhnen, which specializes in mother-child cures, uses this software to plan treatment appointments for spa guests.

Appointments for the regulations taking into account lead times and rest times, dependencies and available resources.

This database application is used to manage a holiday home. The occupancy by the guests is shown graphically. The respective status (request, binding booking, paid) is highlighted in color.

The data is distributed to the other relevant databases in the system. For example, the addresses of the guests are entered in the central address database and the expected payments are entered as a pre-entry in the account database. Appointments such as key dispatch and acceptance date are transferred to Outlook.

The rental contracts are automatically created based on the recorded data and, if the guest has an e-mail address, sent as an attachment.

The necessary documents for the tax office can be called up from this database.
The processing of rentals is made considerably easier because all activities are carried out from one application.

Inquiries about free periods can be answered quickly, as the occupancy can be recorded at a glance.

Tourist tax is levied in the spa areas. Some of the spa guests report themselves to the spa administration, and some of the spa guests are registered by their "hostels".

Nowadays, some administrations offer the option of registering spa guests via the Internet. Among them there are again spa areas in which the registration can be done by "upload" for one or several spa guests at the same time.

This work support software uses data that is already available for other purposes to create the file that is required for the automated registration of guests with the spa administration.
The annoying filling out of paper forms is no longer necessary.

There is also no need to fill out an "Internet screen mask".

The file that is uploaded to the spa administration is created by "clicking the button".

Any number of spa guests can be registered at the same time.

This company had a database in which the data of the customers and their payment obligations are entered.

This database was supplemented by the automatic creation of invoices, reminders and the accounting of incoming payment transactions.
Before the database was expanded, the data had to be called up individually for each customer in order to have the invoice printed. Necessary reminders were dealt with separately.

A period is now specified and all payments due in this period are displayed. It can be decided which invoices should be printed. Cases in which reminders are necessary are displayed automatically. The selected processes are then printed at the click of a button.

The invoices / reminders can be sent automatically by email as an attachment in PDF format (the PDF files are created automatically).

For the customers who have granted a direct debit authorization, a list of the data to be passed on to the bank was created manually on a monthly basis. This list is now also automatically created for the selected period.

This database is used to manage internal training courses in a larger company.

The data of the training courses and the speakers are recorded in the training department and made available on the intranet. Afterwards, the participants can register for the courses online.

The superiors are automatically informed by e-mail that the registration has been completed and asked to approve or decline participation. This is done with a program through which the superiors can see all training registrations for their cost center and the impact on the budget.

All documents for the training, such as registration, rejection and participation certificates, are created automatically.

Among other things, these statistics can be called up:
- Cancellations by participants, speakers or the training department
- number of participants
- costs

The seminars are assessed on a PC and can be evaluated graphically.

This work support software was used to create the Internet pages for the examples of the databases I have created, including the page you are currently reading and the one to which the link below ("Click here") leads.

The process can of course be transferred to a number of other professions. Wherever a separate website with the information is to be created for objects (used cars, rental properties), this software is the right one.

For each object, several images with associated descriptions and information can be entered in the database. The sub-pages are created at the click of a button and can be published. All pages have the same appearance.
The creation of the website is quick and easy.

The data of the purchased vehicles and that of the seller are recorded.The data can be found quickly according to various search criteria and, if necessary, supplemented. Searching in folders is no longer necessary.

When entering the data for a new contract, not all data has to be entered. Much data can be taken over from "self-supplementing" tables by clicking on them.

This customer acquires data on the market from an institute in which he himself also offers. The data is delivered on a monthly basis in a very "raw" state in CSV files. The data is contained in separate files for various market segments.

The data is imported, merged and can then be summarized and evaluated in a wide variety of ways. Among other things, a kind of "hit list" is generated. This hit list can be displayed on the basis of "manufacturer", but also on the basis of "products".

I cannot publish any screenshots from this database. It's a highly competitive market. Any representation would reveal more of the company's strategy than my client would allow me to do.

Of course, the source of the data can also be another. For example, data can be downloaded from your own SAP system. They are then evaluated and displayed in a wide variety of ways that the SAP system does not offer in the existing configuration.
The customer quickly receives information that would otherwise only have to be put together in a very laborious way.

After the training, the participants give an evaluation on their PC. They are asked questions for which they give a value on a graphical scale. This procedure frees the participants from the traditional numbers (1 to 6 or 1-10) and terms (very good to poor) and results in a more objective evaluation.

In addition, the participants can also leave a plain text comment on each question.

There is a finer resolution behind the graphic scale, so that a more meaningful evaluation is possible.

The evaluation is carried out, among other things, as a bar chart, whereby individual course types, lecturers, etc. can be selected as required.

All textual evaluations are available.
Aids for quality control, weak points (seminars / lecturers who tend not to "go down well") are easily identified despite the large number of seminars.

Comments on the examples

The data shown in the examples have been changed to such an extent that it is not possible to draw conclusions about the actual conditions. Similarities in personal data (names, addresses, etc.) are purely coincidental. Alienating the data and preparing the screen examples takes a lot of time. Therefore only a small part of my work support software is shown.
