Chin correction

Before the operation, the doctor discusses with the patient what is possible and how the desired result can be implemented. The doctor often uses X-rays to see the exact skeletal structure. He also explains the risks and possible complications.

During the operation, the doctor puts one Cut on the inside of the mouth or below the chin. Usually there are no scars left. Starting from this incision, he gets to the bone and makes the appropriate adjustments there. What exactly he does depends on the desired result:

  • Chin augmentation: To enlarge a chin, the attending physician usually inserts an implant. This consists of silicone or of the body's own material. The latter is usually bone that the doctor takes from the patient's nose, ear or pelvis before the chin correction is performed.
  • Chin reduction: The attending physician reduces the size of the jawbone by cutting away a piece of it or by surgically relocating it backwards. Then he reshapes the bone and fixes it.

The doctor performs the operation under local or general anesthesia, depending on the severity of the operation. M.The operation usually takes between 30 minutes and two hours. As a rule, doctors perform them on an outpatient basis and the patient can leave the practice.

After the operation, the doctor puts a bandage on the patient. If necessary, it cools the operated area to prevent swelling. Depending on the type of procedure, it may be necessary for the person being treated to wear a supportive bandage for up to two weeks.

You should avoid sport, sauna and swimming pool visits four weeks after the operation.
