Heinrich Heine School

The Heinrich Heine School is a full-time elementary school.

In the mornings, classes for grades 1-4 take place in the classrooms and the gym. A PC room and a multi-purpose room are also available.

School childcare in the afternoon continues until 5:00 p.m. and 65 children are registered every day. In addition, there is holiday care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for 6 weeks during the school year.

The catchment area of ​​the Heinrich Heine School is the Darmstadt Süd social area, which extends from the southern part of Bessungen to the Heimstättensiedlung. The school childcare has two rooms in the school that are designed differently. There is a relaxation room where the children can retreat when they need a break. A large couch with pillows and stuffed animals creates a cozy atmosphere here. There are also books, handicrafts and painting materials that the children can use. The second room serves as a free play area for the children. There is a large wooden castle here where the children can play or retreat. In addition, we use external space for the supervision. There are creative group offers that change every day. Homework supervision takes place in the classrooms. There is a very nice school garden where the children grow their own fruit, vegetables and herbs, and harvest and prepare them together. We use the large school yard to offer the children various activities in the fresh air, such as longboarding or inline skating.

The volunteers start their day at 8:30 a.m. and accompany the children in the morning in various classes and on excursions. From 11:25 a.m. they come to the care and take over the agreed tasks. Including a half-hour break, the service continues until 4:30 p.m.

Applicants should be reliable, responsible and independent. Her tasks include, among other things, the guidance of homework supervision, the supervision in the outdoor area, the preparation of the afternoon snacks and the design of creative offers.

The volunteers are part of the SKA team, which consists of full-time and part-time employees.

They are used both in direct contact with students and in the administrative area of ​​the school and the SKA.

We potentially deal with all age groups, but mainly with the younger ones, i.e. grades 5-7.

Basically, the assignment is individually coordinated at the beginning of the voluntary service and adjusted if necessary over the course of the school year.

The Georg-August-Zinn School (GAZ) is located in the Wixhausen district, the northernmost district of Darmstadt. Around 6,000 people live here. The GAZ school is a primary school with currently 10 classes + preliminary course and is attended by approx. 235 children. The care facility is located in the school with currently 5 care rooms.

There are currently 100 children between the ages of 5 and 11 attending the facility. Class-related and cross-year offers, projects and working groups take place in everyday pedagogical work. An important part of the work is also the offer of homework supervision, which takes place in up to 7 groups depending on the year. The children are supported in their holistic development, taking into account their individual skills, interests and their own pace of development. The focus is on building self-confidence, promoting social behavior, promoting creativity and motor skills.

Our team currently consists of a total of 15 employees. We have pedagogical specialists, pedagogical support staff, working students, 2 housekeeping staff and 2 volunteers
