Our favorite London activities

Initially, we tried to put together a top 10 list of the best things to do and see in London in the city and the surrounding area in this article. But as you have probably already noticed, we inevitably ended up in a top 12. Have fun while reading!

1. A stroll through the historic center of London

We would like to introduce you to our favorite activity in London right at the beginning: Be sure to take a walk through the historical sites in the center. Because a trip to London is not a trip to London if you skip a visit to these fantastic places! If we have our way, see Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace on the first day of the trip.

Our tip: There are several options for visiting the most famous sights. The first and most obvious option is to explore the places on foot. If that's too strenuous for you, there is a wide range of hop-on hop-off bus tours in London. This allows you to easily pass all the relevant sights and thanks to the multilingual audio guides you get exciting information right away.

2. A boat tour on the Thames

You just have to discover London from the water. The Thames is the blue artery of London and has always been the fulcrum of the city since the first one was founded in 43. Therefore, this lifeline has contributed to the evolution of the English capital in its own way. A boat tour should definitely not be missing from our list of London activities: a selection of beautiful boat tours on the Thames.

Our tip: The dinner cruise on the Thames is particularly cool, where you can eat dinner right on the Thames!

3. A ride on the London Eye

Since 2000 it has been possible to see London from a bird's eye view in the heart of the city. Meanwhile, the London Eye has become one of the most popular London activities - not just for tourists. And the fact that it was previously called the “Coca Cola London Eye” does not detract from the ferris wheel’s popularity. A trip in the glass cabin takes 30 minutes and gives you an unobstructed view of the whole of London and all of its sights. There are also interactive displays in the gondolas that make it easier for you to identify all the other sights in the city. But it is also a real eye-catcher from the outside - in the dark the London Eye is illuminated (even in other colors on certain holidays). A must-do on every trip to London!

Our tip: Buy the tickets for the London Eyein advanceon-line. This saves you the hassle of waiting in the queue. Please note: the ticket is already included in the price of the London Explorer Pass.
