Tasks of sound engineer

Sound assistants work in sound studios, when installing sound technology systems in stage auditoriums, in multi-purpose halls and also outdoors - for example at open-air concerts. Following the instructions of the sound engineer, sound assistants also install devices, for example, ensure the correct settings, operate control panels and supervise control monitors. In the event of technical breakdowns, improvisational talent and strong nerves are also required. If necessary, sound assistants also process sound recordings and recordings on the computer. This requires technical knowledge as well as knowledge of acoustics of distant music.

Sound assistants are exposed to considerable noise levels at rock and pop concerts. You often work under time pressure, for example during live broadcasts or in the run-up to events. The working atmosphere is accordingly hectic. Especially in the area of ​​event technology, radio and television, work is also carried out in the evening and night hours as well as on weekends and public holidays.
