Handbook of Psychoactive Substances

The Handbook Psychoactive Substances offers a well-founded overview and combines the current basic knowledge of a newly emerging drug science that looks at psychoactive substances in a multidimensional way, balances opportunities and risks and substantiates current debates with facts. The manual is an important reference document for various disciplines and professions; from doctors, psychologists, addiction therapists, pharmacologists and neuroscientists to social scientists, (social) educators, criminologists, lawyers and police officers. It is also of interest to those concerned with the socio-cultural and historical aspects of the use and abuse of psychoactive substances - including teachers, journalists and politicians. Based on an interdisciplinary approach, the complex interactions between humans and psychoactive substances are examined in the chapters and made accessible in a structured and clear manner. Current developments such as the appearance of new psychoactive substances (NPS) and the cultural and political changes in recent years are also highlighted.
