Amy Schumer & dash; Wiki: age, height and more

Amy Schumer is an American stand-up comedian, actress and screenwriter who often uses her taboo bag of tricks when performing on stage.

The child of divorce comes from a family with Jewish roots. Schumer was brought up in the Jewish faith, which brought some anti-Semitic reactions from those around her. The wealthy family lacked for nothing. Father Gordon ran a children's furniture store that had been thriving for a long time. But then his bankruptcy followed, as well as multiple sclerosis and ultimately divorce. Schumer and her two siblings moved with their mother from Manhattan to Long Island.

Even in high school, Schumer made a name for himself as a "class bully" and "nightmare of the faculty". Nevertheless, she carefully pursued her school education, attended Towson University, which she left with a degree in theater studies. During this time she could already be seen on stage. Her path to becoming a comedy star also led to the renowned William Esper drama school in New York, which has already produced stars like John Malkovich and Oscar winner Kathy Bates.

In 2004 Schumer first appeared in the New York "Gotham Comedy Club", a platform for comedians who are at the beginning of their careers. The club also served as a stepping stone to legends such as Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld. The television channel "Comedy Central" began televising the said show in 2006. In 2007, Schumer was also there again.

In the same year she also took part in the TV show "Last Comic Standing", in which new talents were also presented. Schumer, who made it to fourth place, described the show as her breakthrough, which was to be followed by numerous television appearances in the coming years, including in the popular US sitcom "30 Rock". Schumer continued to be represented in various formats by "Comedy Central" and started there in 2013 with her self-produced, four-season successful show "Inside Amy Schumer". Finally, she appeared on Saturday Night Live in 2015.

In the meantime, Schumer began to work on other projects as well, for example, she went on a world tour with her comedy program, published DVDs and CDs and in 2016 her memoirs, which stayed in the American bestseller lists for weeks. She went on tour with Madonna as a "heat-up", hosted the MTV Awards and appeared in feature films. She wrote the script for the romantic comedy "Dating Queen" herself.

But Schumer can do it differently: In "Thank You For Your Service" (2017) she played a widow in a war drama about soldiers in Iraq. Also in 2017 she appeared on Broadway in the play "Meteor Shower", brought to life by Hollywood veteran Steve Martin. She has been nominated for coveted prizes, including the Grammy and Golden Globe, for her stand-up performances and acting. In 2015 she received the Emmy Award.

Schumer, who advocates stricter gun controls and doesn't care about her weight, lives with her husband and son Gene, who has Asperger's syndrome, in New York.
